Privacy Policy
LeetCode Notes stores the notes you write about LeetCode problems so you can review them later. This policy explains what data the Chrome extension and leetcodenotes.com collect, why, where it goes, and how to delete it.
- Your notes, your accountWe store what you write so it syncs between the extension and the web app.
- No ads or trackingNo analytics, advertising or tracking scripts in the extension or on the website.
- Never soldWe don’t sell, rent or trade your data, and we don’t share it for advertising.
- LeetCode onlyThe extension runs on leetcode.com and talks only to leetcode.com and leetcodenotes.com.
Who we are
LeetCode Notes (“we”, “us”) is an independent tool made up of the LeetCode Notes Chrome extension and the website at leetcodenotes.com. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by LeetCode. This policy covers both the extension and the website.
Information we collect
Account information
- Name, email address and password, which you provide when you sign up. Your password is stored only as a one-way hash, never in plain text.
- Optional profile details you choose to add, such as your LeetCode username, preferred programming language and a short bio.
Your notes
For each problem you take notes on, we store the problem’s identifier and title, and what you put in the note: difficulty, tags, folder, approach, solution code, time and space complexity, mistakes, whether to review it again, and when it was created and last updated.
Settings
Your preferences (auto-copy code, pull tags from the problem page, and theme) are saved to your account so they stay the same in the extension and the web app.
Technical information
Like most websites, the servers that host leetcodenotes.com may automatically log basic request information, such as IP address, browser type and the time of the request. We use these logs only to operate, secure and troubleshoot the service.
Information the extension reads from leetcode.com
The extension reads data from LeetCode only to fill in your notes:
- The problem you’re viewing. On a problem page, the extension reads the problem’s title, URL, difficulty and topic tags so the note is labeled correctly. Topic tags are only read while Pull tags from the problem page is turned on.
- Your solution code. When Auto-copy code is turned on (it is on by default), code you type in LeetCode’s solution editor is copied into that problem’s note and saved to your account. Only your own edits are copied, not LeetCode’s starter code. You can also copy the code on demand with the Pull from LeetCode button. You can turn auto-copy off at any time in Settings.
- Importing past solutions (optional). If you start an import, the extension uses the leetcode.com session already signed in on your browser to read your LeetCode username, the list of problems you’ve solved, and the code of your most recent accepted submission for each one. It then creates notes containing each problem’s title, difficulty and that code. Your LeetCode username is kept only in your browser to show which account is being imported; it isn’t sent to us.
We never see or store your LeetCode password or LeetCode session cookies. Requests to LeetCode go directly from your browser to leetcode.com.
What’s stored in your browser
The extension uses Chrome’s local extension storage to keep the following on your device:
- your sign-in token, which expires after 30 days;
- your account’s ID, used to build share links for your notes;
- a cached copy of your settings;
- the progress of your last import, including the LeetCode username it used.
All of this is removed when you sign out of the extension, and Chrome removes it when you uninstall the extension.
The website uses your browser’s local storage for display preferences such as theme and sidebar state. Neither the extension nor the website uses advertising or tracking cookies.
What we don’t collect
- Your browsing history or the content of any site other than leetcode.com.
- Your LeetCode password, cookies or other LeetCode account credentials.
- Analytics, usage tracking, advertising identifiers or fingerprinting data.
- Payment information. LeetCode Notes is free to use.
- Your location, contacts, or anything outside what’s described in this policy.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To store your notes and settings and sync them between the extension and the web app.
- To send emails you ask for, such as a password reset link.
- To keep the service running, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- To reply when you contact us.
We don’t use your data for advertising, we don’t build profiles about you, and we don’t use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Extension permissions
The extension asks Chrome for the following permissions:
| Permission | Why it’s needed |
|---|---|
storage | Keeps your sign-in token, cached settings and import progress on your device so the extension works without asking you to sign in every time. |
scripting | Lets the extension run its own scripts on pages it is allowed to access (leetcode.com and leetcodenotes.com). It is never used on other sites. |
activeTab | Gives temporary access to the current tab only when you click the extension’s icon. The extension doesn’t read pages outside LeetCode. |
leetcode.com | Adds the notes sidebar to problem pages, reads the problem’s title, difficulty, topic tags and your solution code, and runs the optional import of your past solutions. |
leetcodenotes.com | Signs you in and syncs your notes and settings with your LeetCode Notes account. |
Retention and deletion
- Your notes and account stay stored until you delete them. You can delete any note, or many at once, from the extension or the web app at any time. Deleted notes are removed from our database.
- To delete your account and all of its notes, email solocoderdev@gmail.com from the address you signed up with. We’ll delete them within 30 days and confirm when it’s done.
- Password reset links expire after 30 minutes.
- Server logs are kept only as long as needed to operate and secure the service.
Security
All traffic between the extension, the website and our servers uses HTTPS. Passwords are hashed, and sign-in tokens expire after 30 days. No online service is perfectly secure, so if you believe your account has been compromised, change your password and contact us.
Your choices and rights
- Access and export: view all your notes in the web app and export them as PDF, text or JSON.
- Correct: edit your notes and profile details at any time.
- Delete: delete notes yourself, or ask us to delete your account.
- Limit what’s collected: turn off Auto-copy code or Pull tags from the problem page in Settings, and only run an import if you want to.
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or CCPA may give you additional rights, including the right to object to or restrict processing. To make any request, email solocoderdev@gmail.com. We’ll respond within 30 days.
Children’s privacy
LeetCode Notes is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. When we do, we’ll update the effective date at the top of this page. If a change significantly affects how your data is used, we’ll tell you in the extension or by email before it takes effect.
